The global scenario of homeopathy has been improved under his keen guidance. He
introduced the concept of quality and accountability in homoeopathic practice by
initiating amendments to the Homoeopathic Practitioners (professional etiquettes,
conduct and code of ethics) Regulations (Subject to approval of Centre Government).
He has treated more than a million patients over his 30 years of long professional
career and is now recognized as a legend in homoeopathic management of allergic
diseases
Dr. Bakshi, a former Member of the Governing Body
of the National Institute of Homoeopathy, Kolkata; a former Member of the Homoeopathic
Pharmacopoeia Committee, is presently an active Member of the Advisory Homoeopathic
Pharmacopoeia Committee under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the
existing Chairman of the Advisory Board of Health and Family Welfare Department
constituted by the Govt. of Madhya Pradesh. In addition, Dr. S.P.S. Bakshi has been
taking special interest in organizing short term Orientation Training Programs for
Teachers of Homoeopathic Medical Colleges in various parts of the country, including
the North-East
Dr. Bakshi started free dispensing of medicine to
the poor patients on every morning of Tuesday, Thursday & Friday about 10 years
ago. He also initiated free consultation through post and through e-mail
Dr. Bakshi has also been at pains to educate people
in Homoeopathy as a system of medicine through regular talk shows on Doordarshan
and All India Radio. His stress on alternative system of medication has been aimed
at bringing relief to the poor who are not able to afford costly Allopathic medicines.
He has contributed regularly to various magazines and newspapers on the subject
of Homoeopathy and has presented research papers both in India and abroad. In addition,
he has participated in many International and National Seminars. His efforts relating
to health care, medication and homoeopathy have been commended/published many a
time in the Print Media. He has received more than 22 awards & 78 felicitations
from 1992 till date
Dr. Bakshi has evinced keen interest in extending
cheaper healthcare to people of the disturbed North-East. He has held more than
a dozen free treatment camps for the poor, particularly in MANIPUR - three such
camps were held between July 1 and 3, 1999-two on periphery of Imphal town and one
at Khongjom (Thoubal Dist.). In these three camps, he treated more than 500 patients
with consultation/medication being totally free. The people have felt greatly obliged.
He has already visited Manipur many times for holding free health care camps for
the poor. His efforts have resulted in bringing relief to the poor, as also bringing
people into the National mainstream.
