DEPARTMENTS AT BHMC
An Overview
Department of Anatomy :
A very spacious & well equipped laboratory with an aim to make students perfect in understanding the subject of Anatomy. Various specimens of different organs & models are present in the department besides charts, bones and skeletons, which help the faculty members to impart qualitative theoretical & practical teaching.
Department of Physiology:
A well developed, spacious laboratory having capacity to conduct regular practicals, tutorials & demonstrations. The laboratory is warranted and equipped with state-of-the-art equipments. Electronic Audio Visual aids are used by the faculty members to teach the functions, process & interrelationship of the different systems of the body and to equip the student with clinical reference in diagnosing as well as treating.
Department of Materia Medica:
It has a rich departmental library; beautiful hard bound photographs of the various medicinal substances of vegetable, mineral & animal kingdom remedies. It also has preserved specimens of various plants in glass jars and specimens of almost 150 drugs in crude form, displayed in attractive containers that make the department look lively. This helps the student to view and recognize the different medicinal substances thoroughly. The department has been very active in conducting various seminars and presentations either on OHP or on the LCD projector thus helping the students in learning and developing command over the subject.
Department of Homoeopathic Pharmacy:
It aims at teaching students the rational use of Homoeopathy through medicinal preparations as per the standard procedures. The department has a state-of-the-art laboratory with sophisticated instruments and chemicals needed to perform experiments. Various charts depicting information about drugs sources are used as teaching aids. The college maintains its own medicinal garden with different plant species of medicinal value. Macroscopic and microscopic study of plant specimens is carried out for facilitating learning. Besides specimens are also used for preparing herbariums.
Department Of Surgery:
The department is well equipped with a departmental library & different informative charts for imparting education as per curriculum of UG. Theory classes are regularly held in college. Clinical classes are conducted at Noida District Hospital, where students witness demonstration of cases in wards and even the operation theatre.
Department Of Obstetrics & Gynaecology:
The department is fully equipped with descriptive charts to help students gain information about various topics concerning the subject. Students are taught about both normal and abnormal pregnancies through models. Clinical classes for UG students are held in Noida Civil Hospital under the supervision of staff teacher and Gynaecologist. Practical training includes antenatal and postnatal care along with the care of the new born. Students practically witness delivery cases, MTPs , sterilization operations like ligation, insertion of Cu-T and even Laproscopic procedures. The department teachers also demonstrate various instruments used during the procedures in detail.
Department of Organon :
It has developed wonderful charts and qualitative departmental library. The teachers are very much focused on developing the student’s interest in the subject and making them aware of the various books on Organon by different authors. The students participated actively in presenting various power point projects on Dr. Hahnemann’s life history, History of Medicine and Philosophy of Stuart Close on Dr. Hahnemann’s birth anniversary celebrations.
Department Of Repertory:
Learning opens new vistas of knowledge in the life of a student. The emphasis is on proper case-taking that serves as a bridge between doctor & patient. Use of different repertories & repertorising a case trains the budding doctors to arrive at a similimum or the constitutional homoeopathic remedy for the patient. Teaching is supported through laminated charts detailing each topic.
Department of P.S.M:
Prevention is
better than cure is the main theme behind P.S.M . The
subject is made more practical & creative through
educational tour, Health education in the community besides
camps & school health checkups. This year students went to
Parag Milk dairy National Institute of Communicable diseases
& water treatment plant in Delhi to learn the practical
aspects. There were free medical camps arranged in Alpha,
Beta, Gamma sectors, Tugalpur and Kasna villages. School
health checkup of 80 students was done in Tugalpur.
Department of Pathology:
It
is also sufficiently equipped to conduct practical classes as well as for clinical diagnostic aids for OPD & IPD patients. Further efforts are being put in to develop it more competently.
Department of Medicine:
The department is well equipped with reference books and informational charts to impart proper education.
Department of Psychiatry:
The Psychiatry department is also developed as per curriculum to aid the students in the learning process.
Department of Paediatrics:
This is also well equipped as per norms and caters to the educational needs of the students.
Department of FMT :
This department was developed with in a short span of time. The department is well equipped with all the demonstrative materials like: a) Weapons, which are very beautifully displayed over a wooden frame; b) Organic and Inorganic poisons; c) Poisonous plants preserved in attractive containers for demonstration. d) Charts, diagrams, models etc of medico – legal interest. The department takes special efforts to help the students concentrate on the finer aspects in accordance with the post mortem appearance, forwarding materials to chemical examiner, interpretation of laboratory findings, etc. also by witnessing medico-legal post-mortems conducted by the Professor of Forensic Medicine. The teachers take extra efforts in training students about legal procedures in courts & their jurisdiction, Medical ethics etc.
